Michigan Assisted Living Association (MALA) is the leader in advocacy, education, and resources for providers of residential, assisted living, vocational, and other community-based services. MALA is a nonprofit organization with members providing services to over 30,000 persons throughout the state. These persons include older adults and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, traumatic brain injuries, or physical disabilities.
The Association has grown dramatically since its inception in 1967. MALA is the state affiliate in Michigan for Argentum (formerly ALFA). MALA is also a long-standing member of ANCOR (American Network of Community Options and Resources). Together, the state and national associations promote high-quality services to persons with a broad range of needs. MALA is governed by a volunteer board of directors representing the state on a regional basis.
The Association's administrative staff is comprised of highly experienced personnel providing legal services, business consultation, quality assurance guidance, and other valuable membership services.
