Subject Line: MALA to offer Free Supervisory Training in long-term care

As colleagues in the long-term care field, the Michigan Assisted Living Association is pleased to
offer a free supervisory training program designed to strengthen this critical workforce. This
training program is targeted at first-line supervisors of direct care staff and future supervisors
who provide support and services to older adults and individuals with disabilities, including
persons living with intellectual or developmental disabilities, mental illness, physical disabilities,
or traumatic brain injuries as well as Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

The training program, consisting of six courses, is scheduled to begin during the first week of
August. This program aims to build a healthy work environment, reduce staff turnover rates,
and establish a career ladder for long-term care and behavioral health staff. The training will be
available on-line and on-demand 24/7 at no cost to the training participants. This around-the-
clock access is ideal for community-based services, many of which operate on a 24-hour basis.
This training is funded by the Direct Care Workforce Recruitment, Retention, and Training 2024
grant awarded to Michigan State University for IMPART Alliance and funded by the Michigan
Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

MALA encourages your organization to take advantage of this valuable opportunity for your
supervisors and future supervisors to enhance their skills and contribute to a stronger, more
effective workforce supporting older adults and individuals with disabilities.

We encourage supervisors to sign up for this free training. You may create your own account and take the course here: https://miassistedliving.org/supervisor-training-registration/
