Smart Visual Cues: A Tech-Based Approach to Daily Living Assistance
Presenters: Allyson Schrier
Day-to-day activities can be difficult for people living with cognitive challenges. They may not recall when it’s time to begin a task, forget the steps involved, or struggle to complete them independently. Respectful assistance from care partners can come in many forms—one of the most effective being visual cues.
In this session, Allyson Schrier—former family caregiver to a husband with dementia, dementia educator, and founder of Zinnia TV—will explore technology-driven visual cueing tools designed to support the successful completion of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
This session is especially beneficial for professionals in:
- Dementia care and assisted living settings, looking to enhance resident independence and engagement
- Behavioral health services, supporting individuals with cognitive impairments or memory loss due to brain injury or mental health conditions
- Residential care providers serving individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), who can benefit from structured, tech-supported daily task assistance
Participants will learn how to implement smart visual cues in real-world settings, improving quality of life and promoting dignity through technology-enabled support.
